This past Sunday dawned with a heavily overcast sky and at 9:30 AM we found ourselves with a steady downpour on our hands, even though the weather station was continuing to say no rain until 3PM. It was too late to send out a cancellation notice. We had no choice but to go ahead with Mass at Tepeyac and deal with the elements and anyone determined enough to come in the rain. Fortunately by 10:30 the rain was lessening, and by 11:00 nearly 100 people with umbrellas had gathered on Tepeyac. Just as the opening prayers of Mass began, the rain stopped. But the clouds did not break open. This time there was no rainbow. Instead around us on the hillside a dense fog began to gather. It surrounded the hillside like a cocoon, muffling other sounds. It seemed rather peaceful. This morning I looked to see if the Lord had said anything to St. Faustina about fog, and found there was only one occasion in her Diary where He used the word "fog."
As always, the Lord gives good advice. "You should not worry too much about adversities.
The world is not as powerful as it seems to be;
its strength is strictly limited. Know, that if your soul is filled with the fire of My pure love,
then all difficulties dissipate like fog before the sun's rays
and dare not touch the soul. All adversaries are afraid to start a quarrel with such a soul,
because they sense that it is stronger than the whole world."

FEAST OF ST. BLAISE IN TIME OF COVID Due to Covid regulations, we will be prevented from offering the traditional individual blessing of throats on Wednesday, Feb.3, Feast of St. Blaise. We will have our usual weekday Mass on Wednesday at 11:30 AM in St. Joseph Chapel where there will be a general blessing of throats. |
