Spiritual Prepping

You hear the distant rumble. You feel the increase in pressure. Winds of chaos swirl around you. You know a Storm is coming, but you sense that there is still time to prepare your heart, your mind, your affairs.

It is helpful to make prudent human preparations for difficult times.

But humanly you are not able to prepare for all possible circumstances. As one of God’s co-workers, you must always trust in God, trusting in His desire to take care of you.

What might He counsel you to do? Perhaps --

--- Turn to the Holy Angels and ask their assistance in making prudent preparations, both for your physical and spiritual well-being. You could even ask them to help you in your financial affairs.

---Make more and more use of Sacramentals, of the Sign of the Cross, of Blessings. God gives them to us for our use and protection, and they are infinitely more powerful than all human means put together.

---Go to Abba, your Heavenly Father. No one loves you more or understands you better. Climb up into His arms where you can rest, weep and even rage. Then lean your head on His Heart and allow Him to give you His Light. A Light that is communicated not so much by words, but by the acts of trust and love in laying your head on His Heart.

We call this spiritual prepping. It is helpful 24/7/365.

Jesus, I trust in You.

Novena to Queenship of Mary

Starts this Sunday

Beseeching Our Mother to exercise Her Queenship on behalf of the needs
of all Her Anguished Children.

Sunday, August 14 -Monday, August 22.
Vigil of the Assumption to Feast of the Queenship of Mary

When we thought about an intention for this year's novena we went broad:
FOR OUR CHURCH
FOR OUR COUNTRY
FOR RAIN IN AREAS EXPERIENCING SEVERE DROUGHT
AND FOR YOUR PERSONAL INTENTIONS

We encourage you to turn to your Heavenly Mother with complete trust, and appeal to Her by reciting for nine days the "Hail Mary,"  or the "Hail Holy Queen,"  or the 5th Glorious Mystery or any prayer of your choice.

She loves you and is listening to you.

Help Needed Please!

After two years, we are happy to finally  offer our Encounter With Jesus retreats again.  But we have a problem.   We are in real need of additional kitchen volunteers for this Fall's retreats.
All volunteers are required to pass a background check and complete the archdiocesan Safe Environment program, and a food handler's course.
If you are willing to volunteer, we will help you over the hurdles.
Please call our office at 830-302-2238, or call David Reed at 830-237-7932.

Both Women's Retreats are full, but you can add your name to a waiting list.

A NETWORK OF TRUST

"This is what MDM is called to be: a growing communion of trust in His Mercy
for our needy world." ~ Fr. John Mary

MDM started encouraging people to pray "Jesus, I trust in You"  ten times a day back in 2011. Recently we felt it was important to remind people to turn to Jesus with this simple, powerful prayer in a world that feels more and more out of control. We are suggesting 20 times, but some people find themselves repeating it hundreds of times. It reminds our troubled souls that GOD IS IN CONTROL.

Many of you have put your name on our growing list and have also left a prayer intention or testimony:

By the grace of God and the love of Jesus and Mary, we raised nine children. Without the battle cry of "Jesus, I trust in You", it would not have been possible to have a huge family, all that love and believe in Jesus! We have 20 grandchildren (so far), and God has been so good to us with many miracles throughout our lives, and we will never be able to thank and praise Him adequately, but we'll keep on trying! ~Theresa

Please pray for my baby son, Rafael  so that God grants him health and heals him from autism ~ Anonymous

I own a Catholic ranch south of Abilene, I saw you at Sacred Heart Catholic Church last Sunday. ~ John

We love to come to the Mission of Divine Mercy for its truth and tradition. ~Nick

Series on the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit

The Gift of Understanding

There is so much in our life that is hard to understand, and the meaning of which is hidden, mysterious.  By this Gift, the Holy Spirit gives us a divine light to help us better understand these mysteries.
