Remember -- No Mass this weekend, nor throughout July!

Changing Hearts
Saving Lives

Many of us didn’t believe that this day would ever come. But last Friday, on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the United States Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade decision.  Abortion is no longer “the law of the land,” this terrible evil no longer perversely enshrined as a "constitutional right."

After nearly 50 years of praying, marching, legislating, counseling, sacrificing  and witnessing, by millions of people, the disastrous 1973 Supreme Court decision finally came down like the Walls of Jericho. And when the crowds gathered in front of the Supreme Court, it was striking and heartening to see how young the pro-life crowd was in comparison to the pro-abortion protestors.

We thank God. And we thank all of you who have prayed, marched, legislated, counseled,  sacrificed, and witnessed to change the hearts of men and women and to save the lives of children in the womb.  As we know, 60 million children have been lost, and that is a tragedy that cries out to Heaven.  But because of your efforts, untold hearts were changed, and untold babies were born that would have been aborted.  And because of your efforts, the decision has been reversed.

Let us be grateful for this tremendous victory.

But our country is still in a battle against the Culture of Death. Last Friday's decision returned the issue of abortion to the states, and many state governments have promised to continue to sanction the killing of the unborn. We must continue to pray to heal and change hearts, to give assistance to mothers, and to change legislation until every child is safe in its mother's womb.

Sacred Heart of Jesus we place all our trust in You.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, please protect Your Children

Mission of Divine Mercy
JULY 1, 2022

But even as we celebrate one victory against evil, we are tragically reminded that the battle against the enemy rages on many fronts. We join Archbishop Gustavo in praying for those who died so cruelly this week in San Antonio.

"We pray for the souls of the 53 people who died in such a cruel, inhuman manner since June 27, and also keep in prayer the 9 survivors – adults and children – as well as their families and all of the first responders who assisted and saved lives and must now carry with them the memories of this scene of carnage. I urge all in the archdiocese to unite in solidarity, as these brothers and sisters are members of our family. We also ask the Lord for mercy and understanding in this time of trial and suffering, still remembering our beloved in Uvalde. Give us the strength Lord to do your will. Help us O God."~ Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller

The personal testimony that we were going to publish this week has been postponed until next week, so that we could respond to the Supreme Court decision.  We feel that each topic deserves our full attention.

Mission to Close for the Entire Month of July

The Mission will be closed the entire month of July to provide our religious community with a sabbatical month in their 20th anniversary year. This means that there will be no public Masses at the Mission in July, instead of the usual two weeks. We are sorry for those who will be disappointed or inconvenienced by this, but the Community believes that this sabbatical month will provide a needed break  to fortify them for the long haul.

The Mission office will be open during regular office hours so that work projects may continue.  However, the Mission grounds will be closed so that Dave and his crew can proceed with special annual maintenance operations.

"This is what MDM is called to be: a growing communion of trust in His Mercy
for our needy world." ~ Fr. John Mary

MDM started encouraging people to pray "Jesus, I trust in You"  ten times a day back in 2011. Recently we felt it was important to remind people to turn to Jesus with this simple, powerful prayer in a world that feels more and more out of control. We are suggesting 20 times, but some people find themselves repeating it hundreds of times. It reminds our troubled souls that GOD IS IN CONTROL.

Many of you have put your name on our growing list and have also left a prayer intention or testimony:

Thank you for the beautiful Summer 2022 Newsletter. The discussions, regarding the 2 Sacred Hearts and the meaning of "Jesus I Trust in You," were very much appreciated. ~ Mary

Praying for the protection of all Catholic Churches and pregnancy crisis centers. ~ Donna
